The NFDW 40 Under Forty program recognizes outstanding members under the age of 40 who demonstrate exceptional leadership, service, and dedication to advancing Democratic values. These emerging leaders are making a meaningful impact through their work in politics, public service, advocacy, and their local communities. The program celebrates their achievements while highlighting the next generation of women who are shaping the future through their commitment, vision, and leadership.
What is NFDW’s 40 Under Forty?
The NFDW 40 Under Forty program celebrates the outstanding achievements of emerging Democratic women leaders under the age of 40. Each year, 40 exceptional members are selected through a nomination process in recognition of their leadership, service, and commitment to strengthening the Democratic Party and their communities.
A committee of National Federation of Democratic Women members carefully evaluates nominees based on their accomplishments, leadership experience, community involvement, and dedication to advancing Democratic values and empowering others through public service and civic engagement.
The NFDW 40 Under Forty program honors the next generation of Democratic women leaders whose passion, vision, and commitment are making a lasting impact at the local, state, and national levels.

When selected honorees join our program and receive:
Recognition as one of the National Federation of Democratic Women's 40 Under Forty honorees.

FAQs
Does being nominated multiple times help my nominee? Does it show that many people wanted them on the list?

No. The judges look solely at the nominee application form and all required documentation, the number of nominations have no bearing on selection process. Nominee only get one notice of nomination.
The person I want to nominate lives outside my state/region, can I still nominate them?

Yes. 40 Under 40 nominees can be selected by individuals regardless of their location It is encouraged that you are familiar with the nominees work and connection to their city/state but it is not mandatory.
What is the age requirement for Top 40 Under 40 nominee?

To be eligible for consideration in the NFDW 40 Under 40 Women in Leadership program, nominees must be OVER the age of 18 and UNDER the age of 40 on or before the annual NFDW Convention.
What will happen if I don’t complete the nominee acceptance form?

If you have been nominated but you do not complete the nominee acceptance form you will not be eligible for the top 40 Under 40 and your information will not be sent to our judges for consideration. It is strongly recommended that all required information be submitted as a complete packet.
