Democracy Awakening by Heather Cox Richardson

On Sunday, November 17, 2024, the National Federation of Democratic Women (NFDW) gathered virtually for another engaging session of the NFDW Book Club, featuring Democracy Awakening by Heather Cox Richardson. Members from across the country joined the Zoom discussion to explore Richardson’s powerful examination of America’s political evolution and the urgent need to protect and strengthen democracy today.

Participants reflected on the book’s central themes — the importance of civic engagement, the fight against authoritarianism, and the enduring power of collective action. The conversation connected Richardson’s historical insights to the current political moment, inspiring members to continue the work of defending democratic values at every level of leadership and community involvement.

The event reaffirmed the NFDW’s commitment to fostering informed and active participation among Democratic women nationwide. Through the Book Club, members not only share ideas but also build a deeper understanding of how history, policy, and activism intersect — empowering each of us to take meaningful action in shaping our country’s future.
