Unapologetically Me by Geraldine Smotherson

On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, the National Federation of Democratic Women (NFDW) hosted a lively and inspiring session of the NFDW Book Club, featuring Unapologetically Me by Geraldine Smothers. Held via Zoom, the event brought together members and friends from across the country to celebrate a story of strength, authenticity, and perseverance in the face of challenge.

Smothers’s book sparked meaningful conversations about self-empowerment, leadership, and the importance of showing up fully — especially as women working to make a difference in our communities and within the Democratic Party. Attendees shared their own reflections on what it means to lead with confidence and purpose, drawing parallels between Smothers’s personal journey and the collective mission of Democratic women everywhere.

The evening served as a reminder that when women embrace their voices without apology, they change the world. The NFDW Book Club continues to be a space for thoughtful dialogue, connection, and inspiration — uniting women through stories that reflect courage, resilience, and the power of being unapologetically ourselves.
